The Next Steps

Patrick’s sister here, stepping in to share an update from Pat and Jen.
Dolores’ team of doctors has been closely reviewing her health and progress. Yesterday they sat down with Pat and Jen to discuss the next steps. It was a difficult and heavy conversation that no parent should have to have. They talked about possible surgeries, potential outcomes, long term effects, palliative care, and the next steps of care for their sweet girl. Through prayer into peace, Pat and Jen have discerned how they need to care for Dolores and are now working on how to make that happen.
Pat and Jen feel strongly that the best way to love and care for her is to take her home. Her little lungs will not be able to withstand the many heart surgeries needed. They are ready to figure out how to safely bring her home to have time together as a family loving on her and caring for her outside of the hospital walls.
Dolores has been a miracle from the start. Her birth and all the precious, unexpected days that we’ve gotten with her - every moment has been such a gift. Walking into her hospital room, I expected to feel nothing but sadness. Instead, every time is met with peace, joy, love, and yes, sadness in knowing our time with her on earth is limited, but I’ve never seen or felt stronger faith and hope in our God.
Please pray for Pat and Jen as they navigate this new direction God is leading them. Right now, they need to find a way to get Dolores a portable oxygen source to help her little lungs that’s also affordable or covered by insurance. Pray the right resources are available to bring Dolores home to spend the rest of her life knowing how loved and precious she is.
Thank you all for walking with our family through this. The prayers, love, encouragement and support is incredibly appreciated. Keep them coming.
